We had originally planned to shoot our paint fight scenes in Epping Forest in a space close to my house; however after one group meeting we decided that this would be too impractical. We would have needed to find a weekend date where all three of our actors, our extras and our whole group were free for an entire day to get to the location and be ready to shoot. The only date that was possible for us to do was too close to the deadline, giving us no time to re-shoot if we needed to. We decided that this was too risky and so after some deliberation we chose to change the location of our shoot to the field behind the school. In one section of the field there is a small collection of trees which we chose to film in front of to resemble our woodland area that we originally planned for. Because the area of trees was very small we had to keep our framing tight to make it look as much like a forest as possible. This was a much easier location to shoot in it would enable us to shoot during lunch times and free periods during the school day. We did a test shoot during one of our group meetings to see how it could look on camera:
After visiting the location and doing some test shots we felt a lot more confident with our decision to change the location. There were definitely some positive points to changing our location to closer to school; it meant that we had more control over the weather conditions that we filmed under. It gave us a bigger access to actors as we were able to film during school times. We decided that we were going to film the following Thursday as the weather was supposed to be sunny and dry.
